What is Facelift Surgery?

The Procedure

- Planning: Mr Jeevan will perform a detailed assessment of your facial structure and skin condition. Together, you will discuss the best approach to achieve your desired results, which may include additional procedures such as a neck lift, brow lift, or eyelid surgery.
- Anesthesia: A facelift is typically performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation, ensuring your comfort and safety during the procedure.
- Incisions: The specific technique and incision patterns will depend on the extent of the facelift:
- Traditional Facelift: Incisions typically begin in the hairline at the temples, continue around the ear, and end in the lower scalp. An additional incision may be made under the chin to improve the neck’s appearance.
- Limited-Incision Facelift: For patients with less skin laxity, shorter incisions are made around the temples and ears.
- Neck Lift: If needed, a separate incision under the chin can address sagging neck skin and muscle banding.
- Reshaping and Tightening: Once the incisions are made, Mr Jeevan will lift and reposition the underlying tissues and muscles to create a more youthful contour. Excess skin is trimmed away, and the remaining skin is redraped smoothly over the uplifted contours.
- Closing Incisions: The incisions are closed with sutures or skin adhesives. Drains may be placed to prevent fluid buildup, and dressings or bandages will be applied to support healing.

What is the recovery time ?
- Immediate Postoperative Period (0-2 Weeks): You may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort, which can be managed with prescribed pain medications. Keeping your head elevated and applying cold compresses can help reduce swelling.
- Intermediate Recovery (2-6 Weeks): Swelling and bruising will gradually subside. Most patients can return to normal activities and work within 2-3 weeks, although strenuous activities and heavy lifting should be avoided for at least 4-6 weeks.
- Long-Term Recovery (6 Weeks and Beyond): Final results will become more apparent as residual swelling continues to decrease. Scars will fade over time and become less noticeable.
